Of course, you push open the big double doors into the main hall and you’re told to ‘safely walk down the aisle’. Needless to say, navigating the wedding is a challenge. Pointless tutorial levels which serve no purpose other than being a tutorial level really bug me, especially the side of me that can’t be bothered waiting 10 episodes in to start enjoying the thing (or, 2+ hours into the game). What I love about this is that we’ve already got a solid amount of plot being set up (family = confirmed) and that out of all the situations we could have put a fumbling, destructive Octopus/Octodad in (trailers already reveal that the game is about flailing about and destroying stuff), a wedding is a pretty great example.Ĭontrol instructions are integrated with progression through the story, as you attempt to properly dress Octodad for his big moment. So we’re thrown into a wedding between Octodad and Scarlet, his wife-to-be. So! The Octodad tutorial level is actually genius. 10 episodes can translate as 5 hours! I could be playing a game or watching something I already know is good! But I digress, it’s good to try new things, and this is why I’m here. I hate the excuse “oh, it gets good after like 10 episodes”. I like to think I’m a patient guy, but when it comes to playing new games or watching new TV shows I’ll often drop it after 10-20 minutes or halfway through the first episode. There’s not much else to say about the title screen really, except that the little swirly tentacle loading bars are kinda cute… Moving along! ![]() Nothing too complex, no massive opening sequence trying too hard to set things up. Simple, straightforward title screen with a fun backing track. It’s filled with spoilers for the game, but I go into a decent amount of depth regarding design choices I noticed in the game, and what I thought and experienced while playing it. RECOMMENDATION: Play with friends, either co-op, or in a party situation.īelow is the full walkthrough write-up. I played it solo, so I scored it as such.
